
Prof. Dr. Ralf Clemens is currently serving as Advisor to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and chair/ member of management/scientific boards of various global Biotechs. Before he was Senior Vice President/ Head Global Vaccines Development at GSK, Novartis and Takeda Vaccines. At GSK Vaccines he was additionally in charge of developing country business strategies and technology transfers to developing country vaccine manufacturers.
He also served on Boards of IVI (Korea) , CEPI (UK, Norway), GHIT (Japan) and DZIF (Germany). He is founder and principle of GRID Europe (Global Research in Infectious Diseases) as part of a global GRID consulting network in vaccinology. GRID Europe is one of the sponsors of the Master program since 2017.
During his 30 years in vaccine industry Ralf developed and brought to licensure over 25 different vaccines. Ralf graduated in Medicine from the University of Mainz, Germany, with a specialist degree in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, and he was long-term appointed as Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Tropical Medicine Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. In addition, Ralf holds an executive degree in Management from the Wharton Business School, Philadelphia, USA. He has more than 220 publications and given more than 250 scientific presentations mainly on vaccines, immunization and pharmaceutical development.
